The
Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) appears in the sky just off the tail of Ursa
Major. Under dark skies it can be seen in binoculars, and
resolves easily with amature telescopes into one of the night sky's
most beautiful galaxies. Located approximately 23 million lighy
years way, this classic spiral galaxyalso sports a companion, NGC 5195. A small credit to the scientific team that captured this image appears on this print.
